Cat Interface 9 (CI-9)

CI-9 is a plug standard for connecting Nyamii to cyberdecks and stationary setups. They are small oval magnetic plugs with 9 contacts.

  • 2 power pins
  • 2 ground/shield pins
  • 2 high-speed data pins
  • 1 sync/handshake pin
  • 1 safety cutoff pin

Cablecats use the full pin set for deep immersion and fast bidirectional transfer.

Dreamcats mainly use the sensory-link and sync lines, with reduced power draw and softer signal limits.

Devices auto-detect species/type and adjust voltage, bandwidth, and immersion depth.

Physical Design

The plug should be amber, the cable can be any off-the-shelf color. Furthermore, the plug should contain one or multiple LEDs capable of displaying:

  • white → standby
  • blue → linked
  • violet → dreaming
  • red → fault

Safety Features

The plug should optimally have an automatic current limiter, a thermal cutoff, a neural feedback dampener and soft-eject so deck-side safety mechanisms work.

Port Variant Names

  • CI-9S = standard short plug
  • CI-9L = locking port for stationary rigs
  • CI-9M = medical/clinical monitored version
  • CI-9A = adapter format for old cyberdecks

Common Slang

  • Ninejack
  • Catjack
  • Softjack (for Dreamcat-safe versions)
  • Hardjack (for industrial Cablecat rigs)
